Bangladesh Pastors’ Wife “Raped” By Angry Muslims

The wife of a pastor in Bangladesh was recovering Thursday, January 29, after after she was reportedly gang raped by local Muslims, the latest in a series of violent incidents against the country's embattled Christian minority.

Govt to implement CHT accord fully

The government is going to fully implement the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Peace Accord which remains shelved for the last seven years during the BNP-Jamaat and caretaker rule.

The accord was signed between Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) and the government on December 2, 1997 ending two decades of bush war in the region.

Land reform commission soon

State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Dipankar Talukdar has said the Land Commission would be reformed soon to permanently end the existing land problems in the CHT region.

"Land commission will be reformed through the ministry concerned for permanent solution of the longstanding land problems," the Minister said this during a meeting with Indian High Commissioner Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty at his secretariat office on Sunday.

The State Minister further said that the incomplete works of the CHT Peace Treaty would be implemented as per the Prime Minister's instruction.

During the meeting, the Indian High Commissioner and the State Minister also discussed matters of mutual interest, said an official handout.

CHT Land Commission to be recast
